He is also a former player and coach for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP, before coaching in the pro league in 2002. He is a two-time PBA Champion Coach and a two-time PBA Coach of the Year awardee. He also has the distinction of being the 1st and only coach in the league history to win a championship as an interim coach in 2002.
Career
Prior to his coaching chores with Purefoods, Gregorio was a former player and coach of the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP and was an assistant coach of Eric Altarimano with Purefoods.
However, in 2002, Altamirano was hired as an assistant coach for the Philippine national basketball team and Gregorio was named as the interim coach of the TJ Hotdogs. Under Gregorio's hands, Purefoods won the 2002 Governor's Cup with a 4-3 series victory over the Alaska Aces. The team was paraded by imports Derrick Brown, Kelvin Price and Best Player of the Conference winner Rey Evangelista. Gregorio coached the team to a dismal performance in the Commissioners Cup before Altarimano regained coaching duties in the All-Filipino Cup. Despite this Gregorio was rewarded, along with Coca Cola Tigers mentor Chot Reyes as co-winner of the PBA Press Corps Coach of the Year Award.
In 2003, Gregorio became the full-time head coach of Purefoods, after Altamirano was tasked to head the San Miguel All-Stars team. In his first season as full-time coach, the TJ Hotdogs won only nine games that year, the worst performance of any team during the season.
Re-Building the Giants
In the 2004-05 season, Gregorio coached a Purefoods team, retooled with amateur stars James Yap, Paul Artadi, Peter June Simon and the vastly improving Kerby Raymundo. Despite Purefoods' sorry stint in the 2004 Fiesta Conference, Purefoods went on to finish two quarterfinals' stints in the Philippine Cup and the 2005 Fiesta Conference.
The Championship Run
The 2005-06 PBA season would be Gregorio's finest season yet, he would lead the Purefoods Chunkee Giants to two finals appearances, a runner-up finish in the 2005-06 Fiesta Conference, and a CHAMPIONSHIP against Red Bull in the Philippine Cup Finals, winning in 6 games, 4-2. Under his leadership, JAMES YAP won the PBA MVP Award/Mythical 1st Team, MARC PINGRIS won the Most Improved Player Award/Defensive Player of the Year/Defensive Team/Mythical 2nd Team/Finals MVP, KERBY RAYMUNDO and ROGER YAP made it to the Mythical 1st Team selection. He once again coached his team to its 2nd Championship in the last 4 years. The 2006 success earned him his 2nd Coach of the Year Award and stamped his position as one of the best young coaches in the country.
2007-08 All-Filipino Finals Appearance
Gregorio started the 2007-2008 season with a bang. He led his team to a 5-game sweep of the pre-tournament games and would eventually bag the Pre-Tournament Championship. He would continue his mastery of the All-Filipino Conference as he led his team to a 7-0 start and finish with 12 wins and 6 losses, enough to push the team to the Semi-Finals. He would lead his team to another trip to the Finals, his 3rd in the last 5 conferences. However, his team would eventually lose to Sta. Lucia in 7 games via a controversial series.
2-Time All-Star Coach
In the 2005 Annual All-Star Game held in Laoag City, Gregorio would lead the NORTH All-Star to victory over the SOUTH All-Star. He would again coach the 2008 NORTH All-Star in Bacolod City, but this time he would lose against the SOUTH All-Star in overtime.
2-Time PBA Coach of the Year
2002 - Co-Winner (PBA Press Corps Coach of the Year) with Chot Reyes 2006 - Winner (PBA Press Corps Coach of the Year)
adidas Believer
Gregorio is a firm believer of the "Impossible is Nothing" slogan of adidas (Sports Brand).
Aside from coaching and doing sports broadcasts, Gregorio enjoys spending quality time with his family. A son of UP System Vice President for Administration Martin Gregorio, he is married to Jin Gregorio and has 2 children: Ysabelle Marie and Ramon Jose.pinkyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05390167816994706603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742632155812008403.post-73194784064326566002009-02-17T18:49:00.000-08:002009-02-17T18:52:41.235-08:00Jong Uichico
Joseph Enrique Uichico, better known as Jong Uichico, is a Filipino professional basketball head coach for the Barangay Ginebra Kings in the Philippine Basketball Association. Uichico is a former Philippines national basketball team Youth member and a former player and head coach of the La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP before replacing Ron Jacobs as SMB coach in 1999. Uichico was coach of the San Miguel Beermen from 1999-2006 leading the Beermen to six PBA champioships.
Basketball career
Uichico played for the La Salle Green Archers in the collegiate ranks. He was a member of the 1982 RP Youth Team that won the ABC Under-18 Championship. After a stint with the famed Northern Consolidated Cement squad of Ron Jacobs, Uichico ended his basketball career early.
Coaching career
In the mid-90's, Uichico had a coaching stint with the Green Archers and guided them to two runner-up trophies. He also joined the Magnolia Beverage Masters coaching staff during Norman Black and Jacobs tenure. In 1999, Uichico became the new head coach of the Beermen after Jacobs' departure.
After an early elimination in the All-Filipino Cup, he coached the Beermen to the Commissioner and Governors Cup titles during the 1999 campaign, ending San Miguel's five-year title drought. He is also the first rookie coach to lead his team to back-to-back titles in the same year, a feat duplicated by Siot Tanquincen in 2005.
In 2000, Uichico once again guided San Miguel to two more titles and laid claim to his first and only Coach of the Year plum. His first All-Filipino Cup title with the Beermen came in 2001, defeating sister team Barangay Ginebra Kings.
Ron Jacobs appointed Uichico as one of his assistants for the RP team's 2002 Asian Games campaign. However, after Jacobs suffered a stroke, Uichico was named as the new head coach of the national squad. Uichico guided the Philippines to a fourth-place finish in the event. Their semifinal loss against eventual tournament winner South Korea was a crushing blow for Uichico's squad losing by one point on a Lee Sang Min triple in the final seconds. Despite the loss, the team still brought home what is known to Filipino basketball fans as, "The Silent Gold".
He returned as San Miguel's head coach after the Asian Games campaign, but went on a four-year title drought before winning his sixth PBA title in six years, the 2005 Fiesta Conference, as the Beermen defeated the Talk 'N Text Phone Pals, 4-1. Uichico is also serving as one of the assistant coaches of Team Pilipinas, with Chot Reyes as head coach.
Barangay Ginebra Head Coach
On August 3, 2006, Chot Reyes was named as the new head coach of the San Miguel Beermen replacing Uichico. However, San Miguel Corporation moved Uichico to its sister team Barangay Ginebra Kings replacing Siot Tanquincen, who was demoted as Uichico's assistant. On his first Ginebra coaching stint, he was able to win a championship in the first conference of the year's season. After a year he won his 2nd chmpionship with the Kings in the 2008 PBA Fiesta Conference and his 8th overall title.pinkyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05390167816994706603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742632155812008403.post-15216692342782571802009-02-17T18:46:00.000-08:002009-02-17T18:48:30.997-08:00Tim Cone

He is among the few athletes of that premiere university who actually passed the UP College Admission Test, a rigorous entrance examination given to high school students in the Philippines. He graduated with a degree in Mass Communications in the year 1994 in the same university. Perasol, who is known to close friends by his moniker "Bo", is a man of few words, smart and confident beyond his years, and was thus regarded during his college days, as a great friend and an esteemed leader; one who was included in the elite circle of UP students most likely to succeed and be popular in his chosen field. After his stint at the university, he became the coach for the UP Fighting Maroons Juniors, which became his training ground as a coach, before making his PBA coaching debut with Air21 in the 2005-06 PBA season.
Air21 Express head coach
In the 2005-06 season, Perasol replaced Bong Ramos as head coach of the Air21 Express, previously named as the FedEx Express. Many expected Air21 to drop as low as last place for the coming season and had a bulky yet untested import Shawn Daniels for the Fiesta Conference.
In the 2005-06 PBA Fiesta Conference, Perasol and the Express became the surprise team of the tournament. Air21 finished fifth in the classification phase but pulled huge upsets over the San Miguel Beermen and the Talk N' Text Phone Pals in the Wild-Card and Quarterfinal rounds, respectively. The Express lost in six games to the Purefoods Chunkee Giants in the semifinals, but won a one-game match for third-place over Barangay Ginebra Kings, their best finish in franchise history.
Despite Air21's poor finish in the 2006 PBA Philippine Cup, the Express were able to finish off strong in the classification phase after star player Ren-Ren Ritualo was traded to Talk N Text.
Perasol's system follow the same philosophy of the Air21 management, relying on a 12 man rotation and a run-and-gun type of basketball system.
In 2009, he resigned as Air21 head coach despite leading Air21 to greater heights.
Coca-Cola Tigers basketball operations manager
Just recently, he was hired by JB Baylon as Kenneth Duremdes' assistant coach and director of basketball operations. Thou, it will not affect his working experience with Airfreight 2100, Inc.pinkyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05390167816994706603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742632155812008403.post-43674860683451547552009-02-17T18:33:00.000-08:002009-02-17T18:39:38.855-08:00Siot Tanquincen

Ritualo led Welcoat to three PBL titles from 1999-2001 before jumping to the PBA.
In 2003, Ritualo was named as one of PBL's Greatest Players of All-time.
Accomplishments
• PBL Mythical Five
• PBL Most Valuable Player
• PBL Champion (1999, 2000, 2001)
• Member of the PBL's 20 Greatest Players
Philippine Basketball Association
FedEx/Air21 Express
Ritualo was selected as the eight overall pick in the 2002 PBA Draft by expansion team FedEx Express. But before Ritualo was set to join FedEx, he was part of the RP National Training Pool for the 2002 Busan Asian Games. But Ritualo was cut from the team and returned to his mother team.
Ritualo had a strong rookie for FedEx and by season's end, he was named as the 2002 PBA Rookie of the Year and also the 2002 Sixth Man of the Year winner by the PBA Press Corps.
Ritualo also recorded a 40-point output against the same Purefoods team on January 27, 2006 during Game three of the Fiesta Conference Semi-Finals series, held in the Ynarez Sports Complex. Ritualo led Air21 to a third place finish, the highest in franchise history.
Ritualo, also was the first local player in PBA history to have four games in a career with at least eight three pointers in each of those games.
He has also participated in two PBA All-Star games, when he was part of the North All-Stars in the 2005 All-Star Game in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and the 2006 edition in Cagayan de Oro City.
Talk 'N Text Phone Pals
On May 8, 2006, Ritualo, along with Patrick Fran, was traded from Air21 to the Talk N' Text Phone Pals in exchange for Leo Avenido and two future first round draft picks, which is believed to be in 2007 and 2008.
With Ritualo's addition, as well as the trade that sent Alaska Aces slotman Don Allado to the Phone Pals for Willie Miller and John Ferriols, the Phone Pals are considered as one of the deepest lineups in the 2006 Philippine Cup. However, the Phone Pals never made it past the wildcard phase, ending their season. In the 2007 Philippine Cup, Ritualo is averaged 13.83 points per game in the 18 Games of the Elimination Round.
In 2008 Philippine Cup Ritualo got his much a awaited 1st PBA Title. Though championship seem so easy for him during the amateur ranks, it took him 6 years in the PBA to win a championship against the Alaska Aces.
Accomplishments
• 2002 PBA Rookie of the Year
• 2002 PBA Sixth Man of the Year
• PBA All-Star
• 2002 PBA Mr. Quality Minutes of the Year Award
• 2006 Best Player of the Conference Candidate
• 2008 PBA All-Star 3 Point Shootout Champion
• PBA 500 Three-Points Club Member
• 2008-09 PBA Philippine Cup PBA Champion
• 1st local player in PBA history to have 4 games with at least 8 treys in each of those games
Team Pilipinas
In 2005, Ritualo was a member of the RP National Training Pool. Ritualo was part of the Team Pilipinas squad in the 2005 FIBA-Asia Champions Cup with the host squad placing fifth in the eight nation tournament. During a match against Sagesse of Lebanon, Ritualo's numerous three-pointers in the second half, sparked a short-lived comeback by the Filipinos before losing 100-90.
Ritualo was also included in the Team Pilipinas squad for the Global Hoops Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada. During one game, Ritualo drained nine triples in a loss to Passive Lane Sports.
At this time, that Ritualo was somewhat "rumored" to be signed up by the New Jersey Nets after one of the Nets coaching staff saw Ritualo's performance. The Nets have asked 3 tapes of Ritualo's game. The Philadelphia 76ers have also inquired about him.
Ritualo was a member of Team Pilipinas' successful championship in the 5th Sultan's Cup in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam in September.
In 2006, Ritualo scored 17 points as Team Pilipinas defeated the American squad led by former NBA star Dennis Rodman 110-102 on May 1 at the Araneta Coliseum.pinkyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05390167816994706603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742632155812008403.post-5968083258784828812009-02-16T04:39:00.000-08:002009-02-16T04:40:44.354-08:00Pong Escobal

After ICTSI's departure from the league, Cardona joined Harbour Centre in the 2005 PBL Unity Cup, where he was named MVP of the conference.

During his stint at the PBL, he was consistently named to the Mythical Team and also received recognition as the league's Scoring Sensation.

Professional career

On August 2005, Cardona was picked fifth overall by the Air21 Express during the annual 2005 PBA Draft of Asia's first ever pay-for-play league, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Reyes, better known as Chot Reyes, is a Filipino basketball head coach of the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in the Philippine Basketball Association. Reyes also once held a post in the now-defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association in 1998, and was previously coach of the Philippine national basketball team.
Professional coaching career
He was one of Earl Timothy Cone 's assistant coach during the early-90's with the Alaska Milkmen. In 1993, Reyes was hired head coach of the Coney Island Ice Cream Stars, now known as the Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants. In his first conference, he led the Ice Cream Stars led by Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codinera to a 4-2 series win over the San Miguel Beermen to win the All-Filipino Conference, creating history by being the youngest coach to win a championship in his first tournament at age 29. This feat led him to win his first Coach-of-the-Year award. In 1994, he again led the Purefoods Oodles team to the Commissioners Cup title over the Alaska Milkmen, with Kenny Redfield as import.
Reyes spent two more seasons with the Purefoods franchise before he was hired in 1997 by the Sta. Lucia Realtors. That year, he led the Realtors to a third place finish in the All-Filipino and two respectable fourth place finishes in the Commissioner and Governors Cup.
However, he left the team in 1998 to join the newly-formed Metropolitan Basketball Association. During his short time, he introduced some innovative, yet criticized rules such as the Free-Three, the 23-second shot clock and the eight second backcourt rule. Two years later, however, FIBA adopted the eight second backcourt rule which is in effect today, both for the international and pro game. After a while, he became the assistant coach for Tim Cone for the Philippine Centennial Team that went home with the bronze medal in the 1998 Asian Games.
In 2000, Reyes became the new head coach of the Pop Cola Panthers, spending two seasons there. After a frustrating first season, he led the Panthers to a third-place finish in the 2001 All-Filipino Cup, with a rebuilt lineup of Rudy Hatfield, Johnny Abarrientos and Poch Juinio. But, the Pop Cola franchise was sold to food conglomerate San Miguel Corporation and was renamed as the Coca Cola Tigers. The SMC management retained Reyes as coach and that year he led a Tigers team, depleted with the injuries of Abarrientos and Jeffrey Cariaso, to the 2002 PBA All-Filipino title - again creating history by being the first team in the PBA's 28-year existence to win a title in its rookie year. Again, this feat led to Reyes' winning his second PBA Coach-of-the Year award. In 2003, he led Coke to three successive Finals appearances, winning the Reinforced Conference championship with Artemus McClary as import. This in turn led to his third Coach-of-the-Year award, thus becoming the only coach to win 3 COY awards thus far.
Team Pilipinas
After the PBA and the Basketball Association of the Philippines agreed to a memorandum, the PBA hired Reyes as the coach of Team Pilipinas, a team composed of several professional and collegiate players. Reyes started the program in 2005, leading Team Pilipinas to a fifth place finish in the FIBA-Asia Champions Cup, third-place in the William Jones Cup and the title in the 2005 Brunei Sultan Cup.
However, the current suspension of the national team by FIBA has hindered the preparation of the team. But, Reyes currently maintains the program, continuing to add several players in the national pool.
In the 2006 William Jones Cup, Team Pilipinas finished a dismal sixth place in the tournament. It was due to the lack of the available players the team had as most PBA players declined their invitation to participate due to the uncertainty brought about by the FIBA suspension. Instead, incoming pros L.A. Tenorio, Joseph Yeo, Abby and Arwind Santos and several PBA players played in the Jones Cup squad. With the return of his core players to the national team, however, Reyes led Team Pilipinas to a 2-game sweep of Lebanon, which beat Venezuela and France in the 2006 World Championships in Japan. Reyes' team then went on the defend its title in the 2006 Brunei Sultan Cup via rare 7-game sweep.
After the Brunei Cup, Team Pilipinas was left for a while awaiting the lifting of the FIBA suspension that was handed down since 2005. However, with the approval of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas as the new national sport association for basketball in the country, Reyes returned as the coach of the national squad.
PBA Coaching Return
Early in the PBA season, he was rumored to be the next head coach of the Talk N' Text Phone Pals but in the end, the PLDT owned franchise hired Derrick Pumaren instead.
Reyes was rumored as the successor to Tim Cone after a report of Cone's possible departure as Alaska head coach. On August 3, Reyes was named as the new head coach of the San Miguel Beermen, replacing Jong Uichico, who was moved to sister team Barangay Ginebra.
After an 0-3 start in the PBA Philippine Cup, Reyes coached the Beermen to a 13-5 win-loss card and a semifinals appearance in the tournament. Under his system, Reyes has implied a running game for San Miguel, a take-away from the half-court sets used during Uichico's time with the Beermen from 1999-2006.
With the national team reactivated, Reyes will leave SMB duties to his assistant Biboy Ravanes for the 2007 PBA Fiesta Conference.
On January 28, 2008, it was announced that Reyes was appointed the new head coach of the Talk 'N Text Phone Pals.
Outside of Coaching
Prior to his participation as coach, Reyes worked for Purefoods Corporation in a corporate setting before being hired by Cone as Alaska's assistant. In 2003, Reyes established coachcom.inc, an executive and coaching company that helps developing coaching aspects in sports and in other fields such as business.
He has also appeared as a color commentator for the PBA on ABC coverage. During his time as Purefoods head coach, he would appear in several coverages as a guest colleague, a time when Vintage practices inviting PBA coaches and assistants to do commentary. At some time in 2005 and 2006, Reyes appeared for ABC Sports as a pre-game, halftime and post-game analyst during a game in two finals series.
He is the father of Ateneo Blue Eaglets player Ice Reyes, and is the older brother of former PBA player Gilbert "Jun-Jun" Reyes, Jr., who played for Pepsi and Alaska. There is some confusion or lack of information on how the team was renamed from a soft drink product to a cellphone brand. One fan from MYPBA.com explained his own take.

My opinion is that the Piltel franchise came to be only in 1996 even if then Pepsi owner Luis "Moro" Lorenzo was somehow a stockholder of Piltel. My recollection is that when Mobiline became the "new name" of Pepsi Hotshots, it was Choy Cojuangco who was already running the basketball operations of the team. He then eventually turned the reins over to his brother (?) Tonyboy who thereafter, sold his shares to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuel_V._Pangilinan" title="Manuel V. But the name change did not help the Cellulars contend for the crown.

Mobiline Phone Pals

In 1997, Mobiline took the first overall pick of the draft and used it to draft Filipino-American Andrew John Seigle. The Cellulars also drafted Patrick Fran, Tony Boy Espinosa. Mobiline hired former San Miguel coach Norman Black and acquired 1995 Rookie of the Year Jeffrey Cariaso from Alaska.

In the All-Filipino, the Cellulars advanced to the semi-finals but faltered in the Commissioner's Cup with Isaish Morris as reinforcement. In the Governor's Cup, they paraded Artemus "Tee" McClary and hired a new coach in Derrick Pumaren and Tommy Manotoc as consultant. Mobiline posted a decent finish in the Governors Cup but failed to enter the semis.

In 1998, the Phone Pals struggled in the All-Filipino with a 4-7 record. In the Commissioner's Cup, another change was done as it hired former Purefoods mentor Eric Altamirano. The Pals, like in the '97 Governors Cup were eliminated in the quarterfinals with Terquin Mott as import.

Centennial Cup Champions

Andy Seigle and Jeffrey Cariaso were borrowed by the national team for the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. They captured the 1998 PBA Centennial (the Philippines was then celebrating it's 100th anniversary of the independence from Spain) Cup by beating Shell by a hairline, 67-66, in ovetime led by imports Silas Mills and McClary, with the help of veteran locals Glen Capacio and Al Solis. However, the Centennial Cup was a special tournament and the title was not considered as an official championship.

The records after the elimination round of the tournament was carried over in the Governor's Cup. The Pals retained their winning way and advanced to the finals in a rematch with the Zoom Masters. Mobiline held a 3-2 series lead but lost the last two games to wind up in second place. Mills would end up winning the Best Import of the Governors Cup.

Asi Taulava era

Seeking for bigger things in 1999, the Pals acquired Filipino-Tongan Paul Asi Taulava to man the Pals frontline along with Seigle. Mobiline started the All-Filipino with a 7-0 record before losing a crucial game to San Miguel. The Pals end up with the best record after the elimination phase but was defeated by a gritty Barangay Ginebra Kings squad despite a twice to beat advantage on Bal David's incredible last second shot.

The rest of the year, Mobiline would be eliminated in the quarters during the Commissioner's and Governor's Cup while Taulava's eligibility as a legitimate Filipino-foreigner was questioned. During the midseason, Mobiline traded Andy Seigle to Purefoods for veteran Jerry Codinera.

2000 saw some lineup change for the Phone Pals as it acquired Vic Pablo in the three-team trade that sent Jeffrey Cariaso to Tanduay and Mark Telan to Shell Velocity.

Taulava would be deported later in the year as the Pals were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the All-Filipino with new coach Louie Alas. After surviving a quarterfinals meeting with Barangay Ginebra, Purefoods eliminate Mobiline in four games. After an overtime win in Game Five, the Phone Pals became the first team since 1982 to come back from a 0-2 deficit to win the next four games after a hard-fought Game Six victory. Taulava was named as the PBA Finals MVP, after winning the Best Player of the Conference award.

2007-2008 SMART PBA Philippine Cup

On November 18, 2007, the Smart PBA Philippine Cup was played between the Talk N Text Phone Pals and Coca Cola. The game was dominated early by Coca Cola, but the Talk N Text Phone Pals turned the game around and ended up winning comfortable, 113-82. The win was a very dominating performance, considering the narrow one-point loss to Welcoat, 125-126 on November 09, 2007. The game was tied when the Phone Pals hit a two-point basket with only two seconds remaining. Against all odds, Welcoat hit an audacious three-point field goal to win the game.

Post-championship era

They also qualified in the 2003 PBA Invitationals were four guest teams were invited. Joel Banal left the team for the moment to concentrate on the Ateneo Blue Eagles stint in the UAAP. The Pals did not qualify for the semis but not without controversy. Needing to win by eight points over Red Bull Barako to qualify, the Phone Pals deliberately fouled several Red Bull players in the last two minutes to force an overtime or even reached the needed eight point margin. The game turned out to be more disgraceful when Jojo Manalo tried to hit a three-pointer on Red Bull's basket. The incident led to a hefty fine and a five game suspension to acting coach Ariel Vanguardia.

In the revived Reinforced Conference, Talk 'N Text was bannered by Damien Cantrell but the Phone Pals finished with a 7-6 mark, good for 4th place in Group B. They upset the top seeded Red Bull Barako 2-1 that ended with Jimwell Torion's clothesline on Jimmy Alapag's face that led to the latter's suspension for eight months, which was later reduced.

But in the semis, Talk 'N Text was swept by eventual champions Coca-Cola, but the Phone Pals captured third place in the tournament after beating <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sta._Lucia_Realtors" title="Sta. Lucia
Birthdate: 1980-03-03
Birthplace: Manila
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 165 lbs.
Position: Guard
Draft(Year): Undrafted (2007)
College/University: San Sebastian College
Player Profile:

Is a professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association who currently plays for the Sta. Lucia Realtors. He was undrafted by Sta. Lucia in 2007.

Coronel was not drafted in the 2007 PBA Draft making him an unrestricted free agent but he was signed by the Sta. Lucia Realtors in the 2007-08 PBA season.
Described by many as a physical type of playmaker who loves to defend against opposing guards even on big men. Coronel, known to his solid upper-built, can also shoot from the three-point arc and attack the basket.
Boyet Fernandez, the Sta. Lucia head coach, chose Coronel to be the third guy in the point guard rotation after Dennis Miranda and rookie Ryan Reyes.
Coronel has a big fighting heart to accept any challenges. He is an expert of the pick-and-roll and backdoor plays during his amateur days. His timely passes proved to be effective during his NCAA and PBL days.
Coronel, 27, played for Toyota Otis in the PBL before he received a call from Sta. Lucia Realty management.
Coronel almost made it to the Ginebra roster in 2006, but he was cut in the last minute that made him returned in the PBL.
Before Sta. Lucia Realty tapped him, Coronel was already practicing for the SEA Games-bound RP Basketball team. He did not let the opportunity to pass away, when he immediately went to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall to try his luck.pinkyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05390167816994706603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742632155812008403.post-19359275214892795302009-02-13T00:36:00.000-08:002009-02-13T00:37:47.111-08:00Dennis Miranda
