He once assisted Eric Altamirano and Bo Perasol at Mobiline and Air21 respectively from 1998-2000 and 2008-2009.

He once mentored teams such as Dr. J Rubbing Alcohol, Blustar Detergent Kings, and Noosa Shoes. He even made an upset by beating Tanduay Centennial Gold in the PBL during the 1998 season.
Arellano University
He led them to several titles including the NCRAA championship.
Mapua Cardinals
He became Mapua's new head coach prior to the 2007 season. He led the Cardinals to back-to-back Final 4 slots, wherein, during both appearances, they were at #4. His records with them are 6-6 and 9-5 respectively. But he produced a NCAA MVP , who was, eventually, Kelvin dela Pena, who's now playing with the Alaska Aces. Dela Pena defeated Ekwe for the MVP slot because Ekwe fough with a Perpetual player.
Barako Bull Energy Boosters
Recently, he is going to coach the new Red Bull franchise in the PBA. He will coach them starting the 2009 PBA Fiesta Conference. His chief liutenants are Gee Abanilla and Ariel Vanguardia.
